If you are a hunter or a fisherman, you couldn't ask for a better place to stay. You can get to the 1000s of acres of state land from our motel just by walking on the trails leading from out grounds. The woods nearby are full of turkey, deer, game birds and other animals. You can hike, or even drive, down to the Schroon River. Most of the land in this area is state land open to anyone.
There is a nice climb up Mount Severance that starts across the road from us. It is challenging but short hike and provides some stunning views of Schroon Lake.
If you are into mountain biking, you are in luck. Their is a system of trails that the town of North Hudson established in the old Frontier Town tract. In the winter, these same trails double in as snow shoe and cross country ski trails. They are gently sloped and safe too. While they aren't the most challenging hiking trails, unlike the High Peaks, they are good for the casual hiker or a family to take a jaunt in the woods with few hassles.
